Faith development offerings for adults start in the Fall.  In addition, there are various events that are of interest to adults and families.  See below for a description of our classes, book clubs, and other events.

Congregational Retreat for ESUUC Member & Staff Sat. Feb 23, 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

If you are staff or a member of ESUUC, please plan to attend our Congregational Retreat. While the main focus of the retreat is to brainstorm “possibilities” (our Soul Matters theme from January) and develop a strategic plan to use for the next 2-5 years, we will also spend some time reflecting on personal “possibilities” and goals.  Continental breakfast will be served from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m., and lunch will be provided.  There is no childcare available for this event, which is for staff and voting members (or youth members who have completed Coming of Age) only. There is no cost but please register online by Wednesday, Feb 20, so that we can prepare the appropriate amount of materials and food.

Adult Religious Education (RE) 2018-2019

Adult RE begins in October! We will meet monthly in UU “Small Group Ministry” format, also known as “chalice circles.” Each month’s theme comes from the “Soul Matters” programming, the same theme used for the service on the 3rd Sunday of the month, and the format is designed to deepen your spiritual connection to your deeper self, life’s gifts, and needs greater than your own. The focus is on experiencing, not just academic thinking. 1-2 weeks before we meet, you explore the monthly theme packet and choose 1 spiritual exercise to  complete and 1 question to reflect on. When we meet, the process is deep, active listening as each person shares without interruption; identifying one thing in what you hear that clarifies something in or resonates with your life situation, with no attempts to fix, save, give advice, judge, or correct the person sharing.

Adult RE will normally be held on the second Sunday of each month, from noon-2 p.m. Our first session is October 14. If you’re ready to sign up, email us at . Even if you just want to try a few sessions, please sign up so that you can receive the packet in time to explore it before we meet. If you’re undecided, check out the Participant Guide online, visit the “Soul Matters” website, and/or email us ( with your questions, including a request for the October “Sanctuary” theme packet. Previous participants have had great experiences with Adult RE, and we look forward to meeting you in October!
